Tuesday, August 26 FIRST DAY of 2008-2009 SCHOOL YEAR (full day)
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL: Plan to join us for the final 8:15 a.m. all-school Mass of the 2007-2008 school year and the traditional moving-up ceremony on Tuesday, June 3. If you have a current preschooler who will attend OLSH for Kindergarten next year, he/she may participate in the moving-up ceremony by filling the current Kindergartners’ pews in church after the Mass. We also invite you to join us for the end-of-year awards ceremony in the Activity Center before the students return to their classrooms for the final dismissal bells of 2007-2008.
EARLY DISMISSAL: We will have early dismissal (11 a.m.) on the last day of school—Tuesday, June 3. The following school districts WILL provide transportation home on that day: First Student, Princeton, and Sycamore. If your child normally rides home on a Kings, Lakota, or Mason bus, you must find alternate transportation home for him on June 3, as these three districts are unable to have buses pick our students up at that early dismissal time.
GRAND RAFFLE SALES CONTEST: WOW! Thanks for your support of the Festival’s Grand Raffle. As a school, we sold $6195 worth of tickets. 93 of our total 163 families turned in tickets toward this total. This is sure a great start to a successful festival. The Owens, Hildebrandt, Kroeger, Elmlinger, and Medl families will each receive $25 worth of festival ride tickets for having the top five sales totals. The lucky winner of the prize package from Coco Key Resort in Sharonville is the Lucas family. (Thanks to Coco Key for this generous donation.) Although our sales contest is over, please keep trying to sell more tickets! SEE YOU AT THE FESTIVAL ON JUNE 20, 21, AND 22!
ATTENTION BAKERS: The festival Bakery Booth is in need of baked goods. Contact Ann Falci at 793-4431 if you’d like to contribute and for more information about what’s needed and for drop-off times.
STUDENT GOVERNMENT: Thank you to our 2007-2008 Student Government officers and homeroom representatives. We accomplished many things this year that contributed toward making OLSH a better place. We are looking forward to next year’s group of student leaders—we encourage you to consider serving on Student Government. May the political bug bite! --Ms. Schafer
SUMMER FUN: Mrs. Baker and former teacher Mrs. Rohlfs will again be holding two very fun and popular classes this summer as part of Summer Readology—Busy As Bees. (See the classes offered and dates above.) If you have a child who will be in Kindergarten through fourth grade next fall, you can still sign him/her up for one or both of these classes. Send in the registration form you received on Friday, May 23, or call the school office to register.
MEDICATIONS AT SCHOOL: Please arrange to come in to the school office on Monday or Tuesday of next week to pick up any medications your child may have at school. We will not send meds home with students; any medication left here after June 3 will be disposed of. Contact the school office (733-5225) if you are unsure if your child has medicine here.
REPORT CARDS: Report cards will be distributed on the last day of school, June 3. All outstanding fines/fees must be paid in full in order for a student to receive his report card.
PTO FUNDRAISER: Our sincere appreciation to everyone who sent in old kitchen towels these past few weeks. We reached our goal of 100+ towels and received checks for just over $300. Thank you.
DONATIONS ACCEPTED: Mr. Collins is looking for donations of used but usable acoustic guitars for grades 7 and 8. If you have one you would like to donate, please contact Mr. Collins in the church office at 733-4950 or via email at mcollins9@fuse.net.
LESSONS OFFERED: Mr. Collins will be offering piano lessons after school for the 2008-2009 school year and is willing to begin lessons over the summer. If interested, please contact him at the number/email above.
PRE-ORDERED SCHOOL SUPPLIES: Please note that all pre-ordered packaged school supplies can be picked up after all Masses the weekend of August 16/17.
SUPPLY LIST: We are sending home today with your youngest a list of school supplies for each grade for next year in case you have opted not to purchase the pre-packaged school supplies. (This list is also on our website, should you misplace the paper list being sent home today.) PLEASE NOTE: In addition to the supplies listed, all students in grades 3 through 8 will need a pocket folder with paper and pencil. Students should come to school on the first day equipped with all supplies listed. Hopefully, you can take advantage of some school supply sales over the summer!
WELCOME TO SCHOOL PACKETS: These packets, filled with information along with forms that we need you to complete and return to us, will be available after all Masses the weekends of August 9/10 and 16/17. Completed forms from these packets may be returned during the week of August 18-22 during office hours (9 a.m. ‘til noon) and on the weekend of August 23/24 after all Masses. Please call the school office after August 4 if you will be unable to pick up this packet or drop off completed forms on the dates listed so we can make other arrangements. All forms must be returned prior to our first day of school, August 26, so that we have your emergency information on file in the office as we start the new school year.
JUNIOR BAND CAMP: Moeller High School is offering a Junior Band Camp June 23-26 from 9 a.m. ‘til noon at the high school. The cost is $75. Please contact Bob Browning at 792-3350, ext. 1110, or email him at BBrowning@Moeller.org.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL CAMP: A basketball camp with Steph Wood will be offered at OLSH August 11 through August 15 from 9 a.m. ‘til 3 p.m. for girls ages 8-15.
