SPIRIT DAY
LOOKING AHEAD…
Monday, May 26 MEMORIAL DAY—NO SCHOOL
FINE ARTS NIGHT: Our talented students will be showcasing their gifts next Tuesday, May 20, during Fine Arts Night. Join us in the Activity Center beginning at 7 p.m. for a musical program directed by Mrs. Cheryl Raine and featuring students in grades 4, 6, 7, and 8. You may visit the school either before or following the musical program to see what your children have learned this year in Mrs. Carpenter’s Art class. Their artwork will grace the school hallways and will stay up through the following week. We have some real talent here at OLSH, and we invite you to share in your children’s accomplishments.
LIBRARY NEWS: There will be a used book sale next Wednesday and Thursday, May 21 and 22, from 8 a.m. ‘til 3 p.m. both days. We will be selling books donated to the library that are duplicates of ones we already have. Prices will range from 25 cents to $1. Contact Heather Von Lehmden at 733-3337 or email her at hvon@msn.com with questions.
OLSH SUMMER FESTIVAL GRAND RAFFLE TICKET SALES CONTEST: Great job, everyone! You’ve earned an ice cream treat! So far, 43 of our 164 families have turned in tickets totaling over $2500! Next Friday, May 23, is the final day of the contest. If the remaining families turn in just $40 each, we’ll exceed $7500! At $3500, we’ll have an all-school out-of-uniform day; $5000 gets the students a Movie Day; and $7500 will earn them double recess. Please make the effort to sell as many tickets as you can, and turn in your tickets by next Friday. Your effort goes a long way to help support the school and the church. If you need more tickets, contact Sheila Sieder at 733-9767 or email her at asieder@fuse.net.
HIGH SCHOOL DECISIONS: Parents of current eighth graders—please call the school office or email Lisa Schoenberger at schoenbergerl@olshschool.net advising us about your choice of high school for your child. We would appreciate this information as soon as possible. Thank you.
GIRL SCOUT AWARDS:
I Live My Faith: The Cincinnati Archdiocese offers the “I Live My Faith” religious program for Junior Girl Scouts. This program is designed to develop an appreciation of the place God and religion occupy in our daily lives. Through it, the Scouts develop an awareness of their potential as a person, friend, family member, citizen, and participant in our community of faith. The following Junior Girl Scouts earned the “I Live My Faith” medal: from Troop 8724--Kelsey Beckstedt, Amy Blum, Kateri Budo, Caroline Gallo, Olivia Kettler, Elizabeth Stevenson, Jennifer Sutor, and Sarah Wessinger; and from Troop 6758--Colleen Armstrong, Carly Beckstedt, Kelsey Eagan, Olivia Peters, Kristin Sutor, and Ellie Wessinger.
The Bronze Award: The Bronze Award is the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can earn. It is designed to demonstrate each Scout’s commitment to help others, improve her community and world, and become her personal best. This award requires a significant time commitment on each Scout’s part, as it took approximately two years to complete and included a 15-hour service project. Each Scout learned the value of commitment and was able to take pride in learning how she could truly make a difference in our world. The following Junior Girl Scouts earned the Bronze Award: from Troop 8724--Kelsey Beckstedt, Amy Blum, Kateri Budo, Jacqueline Dreyling, Kaitlyn Fryman, Caroline Gallo, Maddie Hoffman, Olivia Kettler, Sydney Mentrup, Elizabeth Stevenson, Erin Schueler, Jennifer Sutor, Majenta Turner, and Sarah Wessinger; and from Troop 6758—Colleen Armstrong, Carly Beckstedt, Kelsey Eagan, McCartney Johnson, Christy Kennedy, Samantha Moses, Olivia Peters, Sabrina Smith, Kristin Sutor, and Ellie Wessinger.
The troop leaders are Mary Beth Armstrong, Nancy Sutor, and Theresa Wessinger.
SPRING BAND CONCERT: Mrs. Becky Jones and her Beginning and Advanced Band students from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and other schools where she teaches Band will present a Spring Concert on Thursday, May 22, at St. Margaret of York School (on Columbia Road in Loveland). The concert will start at 7 p.m. in the area outside of the church entrance. We hope for good weather so that we can have this event outside, but we have a room reserved in case of rain. So come rain or shine and see what our Band students have learned from Mrs. Jones this year. Contact Mrs. Jones at dbjones1@fuse.net if you have questions.
FALL SPORTS SIGNUPS: This is the final weekend for signups for Fall sports. Registration will take place after all Masses this Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18, in the Tiger Room of the Activity Center for Golden Bears football (grades 3 through 8), Golden Bears cheerleading (grades 3 through 8), boys’ and girls’ soccer (grades 1 through 8 or ages 4 through 13), and girls’ basketball (grades 3 through 8).
