INTERIMS COMING HOME TODAY FOR EVERY STUDENT
MAKE-UP DAY: A reminder that we will have school on Monday, April 21. Our original calendar had this date listed as an “off” day, but we have to be in session that day to make up one of our snow days.
UNIFORM EXCHANGE DISPLAY: Mary Gordon will have items from our uniform exchange in the Community Room after all Masses this weekend. You don’t realize how much your children grow until they put on shorts they haven’t worn for six months! Please feel free to stop by and “shop”—you may take any items you need for your child. We ask only that you return the favor by donating your child’s outgrown but clean and still-usable clothing.
SCRIP: Scrip certificates will be available after all Masses this weekend. This is a simple way to support OLSH. All participating retailers donate a percentage of the amount of the certificate to our school. Stop by and shop Scrip after all Masses also!
PAPAL VISIT: Pope Benedict XVI will visit the United States from April 15 through April 20. For more information, go to www.uspapalvisit.org; for a live streaming of events, go to www.usccb.wordpress.com.
FINE ARTS NIGHT: Flyers regarding Fine Arts Night on May 20 went home last week to all students; parents were asked to complete the bottom portion (indicating whether or not their child would be at Fine Arts Night) and send that portion back in to the school office. Students in grades K, 1, 2, 3, and 5 will not be participating in the program in the Activity Center on that evening, so parents of these students do not have to complete and return this paper. We do invite all families to come to Fine Arts Night on May 20—in addition to the musical program performed by students in grades 4, 6, 7, and 8 in the Activity Center, art work by students in all grades will be displayed in the school hallways. More information will be included in a Newsletter coming out closer to that date. Sorry about the confusion!
SPRING PICTURES: If your child was in attendance on Thursday, April 10, he had his spring picture taken. These pictures will be sent home when we receive them in a few weeks. At that time you can decide if you want to purchase them or return all or part of the portrait package to the school office.
PTO BRAINSTORMING SESSIONS: PTO will be holding three brainstorming sessions on April 22—9:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. If you are unable to attend, please forward suggestions and ideas to one of the PTO Board members. We hope to get lots of feedback so we can guide your PTO into the future. Next week we will send home a flyer listing all of our events, committees, and pertinent budget items. Put on your thinking caps and join us on April 22!
PTO FUNDRAISER: Continue to send in those dingy kitchen towels for our J&R Research fundraiser. We’d like to reach our goal of at least 100 towels so that we can earn a $100 bonus. Remember—only dingy all-white towels or white towels with a design are acceptable. Send them to school c/o Tamara Anderson, PTO.
A TISKET, A TASKET… Help fill your homeroom basket! Thanks to all who have already donated to their homeroom basket for the OLSH Festival. Please remember that all items or cash donations must be received by Friday, April 18. Feel free to contact your homeroom mom with any questions.
EARTH DAY: Tuesday, April 22, is Earth Day. Our own Green Team will be helping the environment by collecting used household batteries from April 19 through April 26 ONLY, when you can drop your used-up household batteries in the marked boxes in the church lobby or at the main entrance to school. The Green Team will dispose of them properly. Thank you!
IT PAYS! We recently received a check for $50 for the IGA labels you’ve been sending in. Please continue to support your school by sending in these labels as well as Campbell’s and Box Tops. It all adds up!
LOST AND FOUND: Someone lost and we found… a Moeller pullover sweatshirt (size XL), left at the lower soccer field on Tuesday, April 1; and a key on a beaded dragonfly holder, left in the church door this past week. Please call the school office (733-5225) if either of these items belongs to you.
MCAULEY CAMPS: Each year, McAuley High School offers a wide variety of summer enrichment camps for students in grades K-12 and sports camps for students in grades 3 through 8. Camps are offered in the following areas: babysitting/Red Cross, basic study strategies, Broadway review, clay, gym jamboree, Harry Potter, Irish dancing, horses, eighth grade test prep, reading, basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, and softball. For more information, visit McAuley’s website—www.mcauleyhs.net.
YMCA CAMP: The Blue Ash YMCA is offering summer camp for children ages 3 through 15 at their location in Blue Ash. They will hold an informational Open House on May 24 from 10 a.m. ‘til 2 p.m. in the back parking lot near the pool.
