PANERA AWARD PROGRAM: Panera Bread, in association with The Ohio PTA, is proud to announce the third year of The Panera Bread Rising Above Award, an essay contest for students in grades K through 12 which recognizes outstanding teachers in our community. The program is designed to reward both students and teachers by placing an emphasis on the unique bond between an educator and his/her classroom. Students are asked to submit a 100-200-word essay on why his/her teacher is special and deserving of the Rising Above Award. Based on the merits of the essay, three teacher finalists from all Dayton and Greater Cincinnati schools will be asked to participate in a phone interview focusing on overall teaching philosophy, innovative teaching techniques, and community involvement to determine the award winners. One grand-prize winner and two finalists will be awarded in each of three categories—one from grades K-1, one from grades 6-8, and one from grades 9-12. Entry forms and contest rules will be available at Panera’s 27 bakery-cafes in the Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Dayton, and Springfield areas beginning February 25, 2008. Entries will be accepted at the bakery-cafes from February 25 through April 1. For more information, please visit www.panera-ohio.com.
