CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK:  We celebrate Catholic schools and all they mean to us this coming week with events scheduled for each day.  Some of them are listed in the calendar section above; see the flyer coming home with your youngest today for a full schedule of events.  We thank you for sending your children to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School and look forward to seeing you at our Open House and PTO-sponsored Pancake Breakfast this Sunday, January 27.

REGISTRATION:  Parents of students in grades K through 7, please look for the 2008-2009 school year registration form coming home today.  Registration for currently enrolled families starts today and runs through February 8; after that date, registration will be opened up to families outside our currently registered school families.  Please register your children so that we may hold a spot for them in next year’s classes.  Please note that the registration fee must accompany your returned form.

PSAS FORMS:  Every family is receiving today a Private School Aid Service (PSAS) application.  If you want to request financial aid for the 2008-2009 school year, you must complete this application and mail it to the address on the form by the postmark deadline of March 1, 2008.   Only families who complete and file a PSAS application will be eligible for financial assistance for next school year.

GREEN TEAM:  A reminder to all Green Team members—there is a meeting coming up next Tuesday, January 29, from 2:30 ‘til 3:30 in Mrs. Baker’s room.  We thank everyone for making such an effort to feed Mr. Abitibi.  We have collected over 8,000 pounds of paper, which would otherwise have gone into a landfill!  Please continue to bring your paper, magazines, catalogs, junk mail, envelopes, folders, fax and copy paper, and colored paper to the bin located next to the drive to the lower playing fields.  Your participation really does make a difference!  Remember, no phone books or cardboard heavier than a cereal box.

LIBRARY:  Anyone willing to help in the library is invited to come to a training session on Wednesday, February 6, at 10 a.m.  We will plan on working every Wednesday from 10 a.m. ‘til 2 p.m. to get the library in order.  Since most work is done on the Follett system or with the books at school, this is not work that can be done at home.  Please contact Heather Von Lehmden at 733-3337 if you have any questions.

FROM YOUR PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE:  Thank you for your continued assistance in sending in newspaper articles when OLSH makes the news.  As you attend Open House, please take a moment to enjoy the displays of the accomplishments of our school community.  The newest display is located in the main entryway of the school across from the eighth grade graduation photos.  As we collaborate with Ms. Fischesser, teachers, and staff to maximize our school’s enrollment potential, please remember:  YOU are our most valuable source of publicity.  It takes three to nine positive comments to cancel out just one negative comment.  Share the good things that are happening at OLSH with your family, friends, and neighbors.  You never know how influential you might be!
