INTERIMS:  Interims will be sent home today with all students in grades one through six.  Please check your child’s take-home folder.  Due to a family emergency, Mrs. High was not here most of this week; therefore, Junior High interims will be sent home on Tuesday, October 3.  Please remember to ask your Junior High child for it on Tuesday.

PAWS (PAUSE) FOR PRAISE:  The following children have been nominated for a “Paws for Praise” award.  Mr. Glassmeyer is recognizing Kyle Gordon for volunteering to serve every week at the 5 p.m. Saturday Mass.  Mrs. Benson is recognizing Matthew Schneider and Matthew McFarland for helping her carry in boxes of Spiritwear.  Congratulations and thank you, gentlemen!

TERRA NOVA TESTING:  Terra Nova/In View testing will take place throughout the month of October for students in grades 2, 4, 6, and 8.  These test results are used to analyze how well our curriculum meets the needs of student learning.  Your child’s teacher will let his/her class know the test schedule.  A good breakfast and plenty of sleep will always give a child a good start on test days.

YOUNG REMBRANDTS:  We are excited to announce that we will once again be offering the Young Rembrandts drawing class at OLSH.  The class will be held on Wednesdays after school from 2:30 p.m. 'til 3:30 p.m. for students currently in grades 1 through 5.  We will start on Wednesday, October 4 and run through Wednesday, November 29.  If your child would like to join this class, it’s not too late.  Please call Carolyn Sendelbach at 779-5858 to register your child or if you have questions.  Late enrollments will also be accepted (tuition can be prorated).

PET BLESSING:  Plan to join us on Wednesday, October 4, as we celebrate the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi by having Fr. Ron bless your pets.   Bring the family dog/cat/snake(!)/other domesticated animal and meet your child at 1:20 p.m. at the church entrance.  Your child may leave with you after the blessing--you should have returned to school the note indicating whether your child would be leaving after the blessing or staying until regular dismissal.  If your child participates in the Young Rembrandts Art Program, he can either stay at school or go home with you after the blessing and return at 2:30 p.m.

KINDERGARTEN SURVEY:  During the month of October, all school families, as well as all parishioners will be mailed a letter and survey regarding the possibility of a Kindergarten at OLSH.  Please take the time to fill out the survey and return to the school office or place in container in the church foyer.  Your responses will be greatly appreciated.

RECONCILIATION SERVICE:  Starting in October, Fr. Ron and a visiting priest will hear confessions on the first Tuesday of each month (except April) at 1:30 p.m.  Each grade has chosen a month (this month will be grade 5) and, by year’s end, each grade will have received this sacrament at least once.  We will publish the date and grade in the bulletin for your reference.

ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS:  Today your youngest child is bringing home one “Entertainment Book 2007” for you to view.  This makes it easy to take the time to look at the book at home to see where you could be saving lots of money.  THESE ARE NOT FREE BOOKS.  If you would like to keep the book, just place a check (payable to OLSH) in the original envelope and send it back to school by OCTOBER 9.  There is no obligation to buy, and we are not asking the students to sell these books!  This is a fundraiser for our school library.  Profits will help purchase more A.R. tests for the students, which will give them a larger selection of required reading material.  Thank you very much for your support!  If you have any questions, you can call Heather Von Lehmden (733-3337) or Laura Schaeper (733-9442).

MARKET DAY:  Please look for October order forms, as well as Boo Bag order forms, coming home today with your youngest.  A Boo Bag is a lunch-bag size Halloween bag filled with a sampling of some Market Day Halloween treats, plus a special surprise.  Please return your orders no later than Wednesday, October 11.  If you have any questions, please call Lisa Schoenberger (733-4707) or Valerie Grein (891-5830).

MEET FR. RON:  Bring your calendar or datebook to mass this weekend and sign up to attend a “Meet and Greet” with Fr. Ron.  This is a great opportunity to get to know our new pastor and fellow parishioners.  Call Sheila Sieder at 733-9767 if you have any questions or would like more details.

LIBRARY:  Book reviewers wanted!!  Look for a flier coming home today with your youngest for details.

SKATING PARTY:  Come join us for a fun night of skating with family and friends at OLSH’s fall (no pun intended!) roller skating party.  The event will be held at Skatetown USA in West Chester on Wednesday, October 11, at a new time—6 p.m. ‘til 8 p.m.  Look for a flier with further information in the Friday, October 6, packet.  Hope to see everyone there!

YEARBOOK: - We have 10 extra copies of the 2005-06 yearbooks available to purchase for $15.
Also, don’t forget to send in your photos to Alison O’Neill c/o Ellen O'Neill 6-O for inclusion in the 2006-07 yearbook. We can use digital images or traditional photos. Contact Alison at 769-4853 or alisononeill@fuse.net if you have any questions or to order a 2005-06 yearbook.

FALL SOCCER/FOOTBALL/CHEERLEADER PARENTS:  Please be sure to submit team photos for use in the 2006-07 yearbook. We would like to have as many teams as possible represented. Don't assume someone else is sending in a photo! We would rather have too many than too few like last year. Simply email your digital images to alisononeill@fuse.net or send in photos through Ellen O'Neill 6-O.

VOLLEYBALL NEWS:  We are in need of Junior High volleyball coaches!  If you, or someone you know, has experience and knowledge of competitive volleyball and would like to coach, please contact Laurie Hoffman at lauriehoffman@fuse.net or 733-9380.
