Ron.

PTO FALL MAJOR FUNDRAISER:  Have your Magazine/Kids First orders ready to hand in as you walk into school on September 7, 11, and 14.  Please include the orders (white and yellow copies) and cash or check made out to OLSH PTO.  Orders and payment should be in an envelope with your child’s name, homeroom, and dollar amount sold clearly written on the outside.  You will immediately receive your Turn-In Day prize based on the amount shown on the envelope.  (Prizes for the Money Wheel, Money Machine, Cheese Derby, and Kick for Kash will be awarded on September 28.)  When you sell a magazine order, give the pink copy to the customer.  Please allow up to 14 weeks for delivery/subscription to start.  If you haven’t received your order by then, you may call the 800 number on the back of the pink copy to check on your subscription.  When you sell Kids First products, the seller should keep the pink copy.  You will need this to distribute the products when they come home from school on October 5.  PTO—We make a difference!  Thanks for your support.  Please direct any questions to Pam Kennedy at pendres@cinci.rr.com or by calling 984-4597.

HIGH SCHOOL ENTRANCE EXAMS:  Our Lady of the Sacred Heart is offering a class to help prepare our eighth graders for the area parochial high schools’ entrance exams that will be held beginning in mid-November.  This prep class will begin on Tuesday, September 19 and will be held every Tuesday through November 7.  Parents of eighth graders—please ask your child for a registration form and description of this program coming home today.  We are asking that you return the registration form with payment no later than next Friday, September 8.

LIBRARY HELP NEEDED:  The library is in need of a good cleaning before we can open it up to the students.  Anyone willing to help Heather Von Lehmden with this job, plan to come on Wednesday, September 6 from 9:30 a.m. ‘til 11:30 a.m.  Many hands make light work!  Cleaning supplies will be waiting for you!

VOLUNTEERS:  Anyone who is considering volunteering with our eighth graders as they perform service hours in preparation for Confirmation must have viewed the Child Protection Decree video and been fingerprinted.  We have the video in the school office; please call us to set up a time to watch it.  Fingerprinting can be done at the Holy Trinity Center in Norwood Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. or at the church office of St. John’s in West Chester on Monday and Tuesday from 5 p.m. ‘til 7 p.m., Wednesdays from 10 a.m. ‘til 7 p.m., or on Saturdays from 9 a.m. ‘til 11 a.m.  (Directions to St. John’s:  U.S. 42 North to West Chester Road, left on West Chester Road to Cincinnati-Dayton Road, right on Cincinnati-Dayton Road to the second driveway on the right.)

HANDWASH STATIONS:  We have a several students in our school with peanut allergies.  Mr. Moeggenberg will soon be installing soapless handwash stations by the doors leading out to the courtyard so that all students can remove from their hands any peanut residue that may remain after eating their lunch as they move from the cafeteria outside to recess.  We will stress the importance of this to our students not only from an allergy standpoint but also from a hygienic one.
