FISH FRY “THANKS”:  The Fish Fry committee would like to thank all those who supported our Fish Fry and all the workers who helped out.  We couldn’t do this without you!  --PTO

LENTEN RAFFLE:  Congratulations to the winners of this season’s final Lenten raffles:  Renee Finan (croquet set); Kristen Elmlinger and Susan Hoffman ($25 Best Buy gift cards); Kateri Budo and Robby Mechley ($5 gift cards to Vonderhaar’s); Allison Vonderhaar (the movie Dreamer); Keith Chachoff (one keyboard lesson from Mrs. Raine); Maddie Hoffman and Lauren Stevenson (pizza lunch provided by eighth graders Kaley Zeuch and Maria Gallagher); Patrick Benson, Allison Vonderhaar, Robby Mechley, Lauren Stevenson, Kateri Budo, Darcie Gorsuch, Elizabeth Stevenson, Chris Kessling, and Christian Elfers (out-of-uniform passes); and Allison Vonderhaar and David Spraul (LaRosa’s Buddy Cards).  We raised $1720 to send to The Friends of Batahola in Nicaragua in Sr. Margie’s memory.  Thank you for your generous spirits!

POWER OF THE PEN:  The Power of the Pen Regional Competition will be held on Saturday, April 14, at Sycamore High School.  Good luck to our representative--seventh grader Carly McFarland and eighth grader Maria Gallagher!  We’ll let you know how they do.

SPRING PICTURES:  Spring pictures will be taken on Thursday of the week we return from Easter break.  Look for a flyer coming home today with your child--you can indicate on it which pose you prefer.  Students may be out of uniform on Picture Day—please refer to page 25 of the Parent/Student Handbook for guidelines concerning appropriate dress.   All students in attendance on Thursday, April 19 will be photographed and will have a portrait package printed; you can decide when you receive your child’s pictures whether or not you want to buy them and can fill out the order form that will come home then.  You are not obligated to buy—if you decide you don’t want them, you just return the portrait package to the school office.   We will need two parents here on Picture Day to help with the flow of classes.  The photographer starts at 8 a.m. and is usually finished before noon, so we would need any volunteers to be here at 7:45 a.m. and stay until all pictures have been taken.   Please call the school office (733-5225) if you’d like to help out.  Thank you.

WEEKLY FOLDERS:  Parents, please check over the Easter break to see if your child is missing his blue take-home folder (the one he should be bringing papers home in each Friday).  If his papers came home this week loose and not in his blue folder, could you please check at home or in his bookbag to see if he has it?  Thank you.

SPIRIT DAY T-SHIRTS:  Spirit Day t-shirt order forms are coming home today with all students in grades 1 through 7.  Each homeroom will have its own color t-shirt.  The shirts cost $5 and can be worn on Spirit Tuesdays through the rest of this school year.  Please return all order forms and payment by Tuesday, April 17 (the first Tuesday after Easter break) in an envelope marked “Spirit Day”.  This year’s theme is “OLSH Carnival”.

COSI ON WHEELS:  This program will come to OLSH on Wednesday, May 2.  Please see the flyer coming home today for volunteer opportunities.

YEARBOOK:  If you forgot to return your Yearbook order form, please do so no later than Monday, April 16.  Call Alison O’Neill with questions.

READING CLEANUP DAY:  Reading Litter Cleanup Day is planned for Saturday, April 28.  Please call Carol Bullock-Carpenter at 733-4857 if you plan to participate or if you have questions.

THE EASTER TRIDUUM

THREE DAYS CELEBRATED AS ONE SPECIAL LITURGY

Begins at sundown on Holy Thursday and ends at sundown on Easter Sunday

HOLY THURSDAY

7 p.m.—Mass of the Last Supper

We remember the Last Supper, Jesus’ gift of Himself in the bread and wine.

Jesus taught us to serve others by washing His disciples’ feet.

After Mass, the altar is stripped.  There is no dismissal.

Chapel of Repose in Community Room open until 10 p.m.

GOOD FRIDAY

12 noon—Services at Ss. Peter and Paul Church

7 p.m.—Services at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church

We remember Jesus’ death on the cross, and we venerate (honor) the cross.

There is no Mass.  The altar remains bare.  The liturgy does not end but extends into Saturday.

HOLY SATURDAY

8:45 p.m.—Easter Vigil

There are no Masses until sundown.

This is the most beautiful and exciting night of the year.

The church is dark.  The Easter Candle is lit to remind us of the Light of Christ.

The RCIA members celebrate sacraments of initiation and join our Church.

EASTER SUNDAY

8:30 a.m.—Mass

    10:30 a.m.—Mass

The most important Sunday of the year!  We gather and celebrate

at Church and with our families the fact that Jesus is risen!

WE WISH YOU and YOUR FAMILIES A BLESSED EASTER!
