THANK YOU’S:  We send a “thank you” to Pam Kennedy and Nancy Sutor and their crew of volunteers for an outstandingly successful Magazine Drive.  We also thank Julie and Mark Curry and all the adult and child volunteers who worked so hard to make our Spaghetti Dinner successful.  We appreciate that a lot of hard work and many hours of preparation and cleanup go into both of these activities.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

ALL-SCHOOL MASS:  Please note that next week’s 8:15 a.m. all-school Mass will take place on Monday instead of on Friday.  Fr. Ron has a friend who is a missionary in Russia who will be here to say Monday’s Mass.  As usual, all parents and friends are invited to join our schoolchildren for this Mass.

CHILD PROTECTION DECREE VIDEO:  Dan Hackett, as President of YAC, will facilitate the showing of the Child Protection Decree video on Monday, October 16, at 7 p.m. in the Community Room.  All parents who intend to volunteer in any capacity with our schoolchildren are required to watch this video and be fingerprinted.  As a reminder:  fingerprinting can be done at the Holy Trinity Center in Norwood Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. ‘til 3 p.m.;  and at St. John Church in West Chester Mondays and Tuesdays (5 p.m. ‘til 7 p.m.) and Wednesdays (10 a.m. ‘til 7 p.m.) a.m.).  Please call the Parish Office (733-4950) if you have any question about whether you have completed these two steps in order to be able to volunteer.

KINDERGARTEN SURVEY:  Parents, please look for a survey being sent home today with your youngest about the possibility of having a Kindergarten here at OLSH.  You can return the completed survey with your child through the school office or drop it off in the box provided in the church lobby.  We appreciate your honest response and your time.

LIVING ROSARY:  The junior high will present and participate in The Living Rosary on Friday, October 20, at 1:30 p.m. in the Church.  Each junior-high student will have a “living” role as a part of the rosary.   All parents, grandparents, friends, etc. are invited to come and witness this moving tribute to the Blessed Virgin.

TRAVELING QUILT:  The Northeastern Cluster of schools wanted to highlight Catholic education.  To this end, two quilts are being made with squares created and contributed by students of each school in the Cluster.  OLSH eighth graders Sara Carota, Molly Hildebrandt, Jenna Juillerat, and Katie Lenart  worked together to create our square.  One of the finished quilts will travel and be displayed for a time at each school; the other quilt will be auctioned, with proceeds used to support an educational endowment for Catholic education.  We will let you know when the traveling quilt “visits” OLSH.

USED INK CARTRIDGES:  Just a reminder—we are continuing to accept used ink cartridges.  Just send them in with your children.  We turn them in to Staples’ “Recycle for Education” program and receive back from them $3 for each qualifying used cartridge.  Thanks for your support of this simple fundraiser!
