MAGAZINE DRIVE:  Oops!  The flyer for the limo lunch was not included in the PTO Fall Major Fundraiser packet.  If a seventh- or eighth-grade student reaches $250 in sales through the duration of the program, he will be awarded a limo lunch.  Orders must be turned in only under the seventh- or eighth-grade student's name to qualify.  If you have already sent in orders under another student's name, please contact Pam Kennedy (984-4597) so we can straighten this out.  I apologize for the inconvenience.  Regarding turn-ins--please remember to have the student's name, homeroom, and dollar amount sold on the outside of the envelope when turning in orders.  This way, we are able to hand students their prizes quickly.  Thanks for your continued support!

HIGH SCHOOL ENTRANCE EXAM PREP CLASS:  We had a great response for this class, which begins Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.  Please ask your eighth grader for the registration confirmation letter being sent home with him today.  It indicates which day (Tuesday or Wednesday) he is signed up for, based on your request.  Your child will come to class on the same day each week.  Remember that the first week's class will go long, ending at 5:30 p.m.

PTO NEWS:  Thanks to all our parents who signed up at Meet the Teacher Nights for various PTO functions for this school year.  We have several events for which we need a chairperson.  If you volunteered to be on a committee and are willing to chair it, please give Heather Von Lehmden a call (733-3337).  If we do not have a chairperson by the date of the event, it will have to be canceled.  We need a chairperson for each of these events:  Children's Christmas Shop, Confirmation Reception, School Supply Packets, Graduation Reception, Spirit Day Games, First Grade Picnic, Campbell's Soup Labels, and the website.

Our first PTO meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 21 at 7 p.m. in the lower level of the Parish Center.  Anyone who has an agenda item must turn these in by Wednesday, September 14 to have it put on the agenda.  You may send your requests through the school office marked "PTO mail" or e-mail them to Jamie Brenner at boomer473@aol.com.  Thank you.

LIBRARY:  The library opens for all classrooms beginning Monday, September 12.  Please look for guidelines being sent home today with your youngest child; we request that you review these guidelines with your children before their class goes to the library for the first time next week.

TARGET "TAKE CHARGE OF EDUCATION" FUNDRAISING PROGRAM:  OLSH received a check for $184.33, which is a donation of 1% of purchases by parents and staff who signed up for this program.  You can designate OLSH to receive more donations by doing one of the following:  visiting Target.com/tcoe; stopping by the kiosk in your favorite Target store; or calling 1-800-316-6142.  Thanks to all who participate in this program.

AFTER-SCHOOL TUTORING/HOMEWORK HELP:  Could your child benefit from tutoring?  Would extra explanation and practice increase his/her understanding of assignments/homework?  Mrs. Mary Jo Eggenberger will be offering after-school/evening tutoring and homework help.  If interested, please contact her at 563-2079 to schedule a day and time.  Group rates are available for two or three same-grade students.

NEWSLETTER ONLINE:  We just want to remind you (and inform our new families) that this weekly newsletter is always posted on our website (just in case you would lose this paper copy or if for some reason it doesn't make it home in your child's Friday packet).  Our website address is www.olshschool.net, then click on "Principal's Bulletin."  (We will be changing that name to "OLSH Newsletter" soon.)  A calendar for the current month will also be posted.
