VARIETY SHOW:
We hope many of you were able to come last Monday evening to see our
Variety Show. It was wonderful! We thank the Committee (Tamara Anderson,
Julie Brown, Sherie Fortner, Alison O’Neill, and
Heather VonLehmden) and all the “behind-the-scenes”
people who make a production like this possible. We especially thank the parents of all
students involved, as we know what an additional sacrifice of time this meant
to your families. We have a lot of
talent in our OLSH kids!
STAFF MOVE:
Because we have only one third grade this year,
we will have only one fourth grade next year.
We are pleased to announce that Mrs. Chris Dunlap (who has taught fourth
grade at OLSH for the past 19 years) will teach third grade with Mrs. Peter for
2006-07. We thank Mrs. Dunlap for being
gracious about making this change.
LENTEN RAFFLE:
Congratulations to the following winners of last week’s raffles: Danny Miller and Holly Carota
(crocheted football and crocheted soccer ball); Sara Carota
(mystery box); Sara Carota ($10 Dairy Queen gift
card); Ali Kessling (glass chess set); and Kelsey
Eagan, Caroline Gallo, Henry Kuechly, Katie Rieman, and Evan Curry (basketball fun). This week’s raffles are: a soccer Easter basket full of soccer
supplies and candy (donated by Mrs. High); a $10 Graeter’s
gift certificate (donated by Ms. Willet); a $10 Skyline gift certificate
(donated by Mrs. Creighton); a $10 Wendy’s gift certificate (also donated by
Mrs. Creighton); ice cream treats (a basket of ice cream supplies donated by
eighth graders Meggie and Mindy
O’Brien); and six out-of-uniform passes.
Tickets are 25 cents each or five for $1 and may be purchased each day
before school in Ms. Schafer’s classroom.
We also accept any monetary donations to be added to our homeroom jars
and, eventually, to our all-school jar.
All donations will be sent to
MARKETING:
Thank you to the parents who sent in letters to send to prospective OLSH
families. The last contact is a personal
phone call, not necessarily from the Principal or staff. Is there anyone who would like to do
this? You would be asking if prospective
families need more information or if you could answer any questions they might
have. Please contact the school office
if you are interested in participating.
FISH FRY: You’re
invited to the first OLSH Annual Fish Fry of this school year to be held next
Friday, March 24, from
SKATING PARTY:
Shake those wintertime blues and join us on Wednesday, March 22, at Skatetown
BOOK FAIR:
Our spring Book Fair will take place during the week of March 27. Students will shop the Book Fair during their
regular library times. Parents are
invited to join them or shop after all Masses on Saturday and Sunday, April 1
and 2. Proceeds from this Book Fair will
be used to purchase teacher-requested books for classrooms and to purchase A.R.
tests for books we currently have in the library. Please note:
To give us more space, the Book Fair will take place in room 7 of the
school (next to Mrs. O’Brien’s homeroom)—not in the library. The library will be closed the week of Book
Fair.
CHAIRPERSONS NEEDED:
We are looking for someone to chair the Book Fairs and Entertainment
Book sale for 2006-07. If you are
interested in chairing the Book Fairs, you might want to consider shadowing
Vicki Koppenhafer (this year’s chair) during the
spring Book Fair the week of March 27.
Please call Heather VonLehmden (733-3337) if
you are interested in chairing the Entertainment Book sale or Vicki (for Book
Fair) at 769-4318.
THANK YOU:
We would like to thank Mrs. Lois Brandstetter,
grandmother of Jonathan (8-C) and Kirsten Lucas (2-R), for repairing and
hemming all the costumes we use for various plays here at OLSH. Not only were all the costumes repaired, they
were nicely pressed and returned within one week! We appreciate her help and will certainly
keep her name on file. We also thank
Mrs. Lorraine Herbert for her offer of help in this area and will keep her in
mind the next time this need arises.
YEARBOOKS:
You may still purchase a 2005-06 yearbook. The cost is $14 if purchased prior to April
14. All yearbooks purchased after April
14 will be $15. Call Alison O’Neill
(769-4853) with any questions.
GRAND PRIZE WINNER:
We heard recently from Lisa Waitkus that her
daughter, Erin, is one of ten grand prize winners of the Juicy Juice/I Spy a
“Healthy Kids Day” Sweepstakes. This was
a Juicy Juice and Scholastic food journal that the first graders did with Mrs.
O’Brien in the fall before the Waitkus family moved
north to the
