PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES:  Parent-Teacher conferences will take place from 4 p.m. ‘til 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, and Tuesday, November 15.  Please look for the conference sign-up form coming home today with every student.  All scheduling will be done on Monday, November 7; so these request forms must be turned in Monday morning.  You will receive notification of your scheduled conference time(s) on Wednesday, November 9.  Thanks for your cooperation.

SPIRIT T-SHIRT PROJECT:  Student Government wishes to thank everyone who helped make the Spirit t-shirt project a success.  Together we raised over $1600 to benefit schools affected by Hurricane Katrina.  The shirts were ordered this week and will be delivered to school in a few weeks.

OLSH DIRECTORY:  Please look for the school directory coming home with your youngest today.  If you ordered more than one, you should be receiving those today as well.  I apologize ahead of time for any errors--there are some typos.  Also, as it was the first year for printing the directory "in house", we want to thank you for your patience.  A big "thank you" to these moms who worked hard on this:  Pam Kennedy, Gina Vonderhaar, Ann Gilligan-Sand, Shari Torbeck, and Lisa Schoenberger.  --Heather Von Lehmden

SPIRITWEAR:  Please look for Spiritwear order forms coming home today.  All orders and money are due by next Friday, November 11.  Make checks payable to “OLSH YAC” and send orders to the office in an envelope marked “Spiritwear”.  Items will be delivered to your child’s homeroom before the Christmas break.  Special note:  If you are ordering Spiritwear items as Christmas gifts and do not want them sent home with your child, please write “CHRISTMAS GIFT” across the top of your order form.  I will call you when the order arrives to make arrangements for pickup.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR:  The Scholastic Book Fair is right around the corner!  Mark your calendars for the week of November 14, when students will shop the Book Fair during their regular library times.  Parents are invited to join them or shop during parent-teacher conferences on Tuesday, November 15 from 4 p.m. ‘til 8 p.m. or after Masses on Saturday and Sunday, November 19 and 20.  This is a great way to get a head start on Christmas shopping and raise money for the school library at the same time!

MARKET DAY:  We have extended the “Pennies for Pies” collection!  We will be collecting all currency until Friday, November 18 and will be buying pies to help our Student Government’s Thanksgiving Food Drive.   We thank you in advance for your generosity.

LIBRARY E-MAIL ADDRESS:  We now have an e-mail address!  Please direct comments, ideas, or questions to library@olshschool.net.  Bill (Moulliet) or Heather (Von Lehmden) will check this e-mail periodically.

YAC GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL:  A reminder that the times for open gym for the splitting of the fourth- and fifth-grade teams on November 6 are 4 p.m. 'til 5 p.m. for Grade 4 and 5 p.m. 'til 6 p.m. for Grade 5.  Tryouts for the seventh- and eighth-grade teams are as follows:  Grade 7 on Friday, November 4, from 6 p.m. 'til 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, November 6, from 6 p.m. 'til 7:30 p.m.; Grade 8 on Friday, November 4, from 7:30 p.m. 'til 9 p.m. and on Sunday, November 6, from 7:30 p.m. 'til 9 p.m.  If you have any questions, please contact Laurie Hoffman at 733-9380.
