REAL CARE
BABY/BABY THINK IT OVER PROGRAM:
Perhaps you've noticed on Fridays or over the weekends that some of our
eighth graders have taken on a very responsible role of caring for a
"baby". The Real Care Baby boy
or girl is sent home with students who have parental permission to experience
many of the responsibilities of a parent of a newborn. Only the student may tend to the baby, since
only he/she wears the computer wristband, which is removed only when the baby
and its "parent" return to school.
Without the computer wristband, the baby will not accept care and will
continue to do whatever it has been programmed to need. The baby will cry and need to be fed, burped,
rocked, and/or have its diaper changed.
The name of the program says it all.
What a wonderful learning experience Mrs. Schworer has brought into the
Religion program for eighth graders!
STUDENT
GOVERNMENT NEWS: Student
Government will be selling "Booskin" (Busken) Halloween cookies starting Tuesday, October
25. They are $.50 each or $1.00 for a
package of 2. Parents and other
adults: If you would like to purchase
multiple packages of cookies, please send a note to Ms. Willet (7-W) by Friday,
October 21, to reserve an order. Thank
you.
PTO EVENTS
CANCELED: At this time, the Children's Christmas Shop
and Spirit Day Games will be canceled because no one has stepped forward to
chair these events.
TOYS NEEDED: OLSH's pre-school
CCD program is in need of large-size Legos, Matchbox
cars, a school bus, or any other toys you might come across in cleaning up
around your home. Call school if you
need a pick-up or drop the toys off with your child when he comes to
school. Thank you.
THANKS! Many thanks to all the
parents, teachers, relatives, parishioners, friends, and neighbors who participated
in the Market Research Study to benefit OLSH PTO. We earned $588!!! Those who participated know this was a quick,
easy, and enjoyable way to earn money; so please keep that in mind the next
time around! We may have an opportunity
to host another study after the first of the year. Special thanks to those who helped make it
happen: Mr. Dierkers;
Mrs. Geers; Mrs. Schworer; Mrs. Creighton; Bob Moeggenberg; Dave Mueller; Mary Lou Isaac; Cyndy Eagan; and our eighth-grade babysitters: Lindsey Rinderle, Christina Vuotto, and
Amanda Eagan.
TIGER
T-SHIRTS: Show your school spirit and help others in
need. Order forms for t-shirts are in
today's packet. All proceeds will be
used to buy supplies for a Catholic school in
BOX TOPS FOR
EDUCATION: Please continue to send in your General Mills
box tops. Last year we received a check
for $1101.83 just for sending in the box tops you collected. Such an easy way to earn money!
USED INK
CARTRIDGES: Please also continue to send to the school
office any used ink cartridges.
We participate in a program with Staples that pays us $1 for each usable
ink cartridge we mail in. There is a box
in the office; when that box gets full, we mail it and are sent a check for all
cartridges that qualify. Another easy
way to earn money for OLSH!
SCHOOL
PICTURES: All students were photographed on
Thursday. If your child was here but did
not have an order form with payment, his picture was taken to be included on
the class composite and as a "proof" picture from which you may
choose to order when you receive it.
(This order should be mailed directly to the Lifetouch
studio; the printed package will be mailed to your home, per the information
card your child received on Thursday.)
If your child was absent or if you are dissatisfied with his picture
when you receive it, re-take day is Monday, November 21. Class composites will not be printed until
after this date so that all retakes can be included in the composite. Information will go home with your child
prior to that day. Any questions can be
directed to Lifetouch at 772-2110.
FLIERS FOR
DISTRIBUTION: Parents, if you have
a flier to go home with the students, please make sure you make enough copies
to include one for the teachers plus a few extras for the office to keep on
file. Thanks!
GIRLS'
