OPENING PRAYER - The meeting was called to order at 7:07 p.m. by Tamara Anderson, PTO President. Father Ron led us in the opening prayer.

FATHER RON PRESENTATION - Father Ron urged everyone to participate in one of the “Meet and Greets” that are being coordinated by Sheila Sieder. Sign-ups will be held soon.

Father discussed the feedback from the teachers. They would like to see more opportunities for confessions, so a brief penance service followed by individual confessions will be held the first Tuesday of the month on a rotating basis for each grade. Fr. Ron will partner with Fr. Leshney from St. Peter and Paul Parish for these services. Another suggestion was more stations of the cross. Eucharistic exposition and benediction will continue to be held on the first Friday of the month. Father has been eating lunch with the children and touring the school.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES - The May minutes were read, and approved with no changes or corrections.

TREASURER REPORT - Tracy Engel audited the books. She suggested that we institute pre-printed tickets for sales at large fundraisers.

Pam reported we made approximately $12,500 from the fall fundraiser (we projected $10,000), $167 from June Market Day and $305 from July Market Day. Expenses amounted to $5,647 (uniform exchange bins, First Grade Welcome, buses for field trips and the yearbook). Final profit from the fall fundraiser will be reported in November.

The proposed budget was handed out and approved.

The check request form will be available on the OLSH website.

Note to committee chairpersons - see or call a PTO board member if you need to discuss the funds allotted to your function.

ORGANIZATIONAL REPORTS

Yearbook update - Alison O’Neill is looking for one person per grade to coordinate photos. She can take regular photos, but she may not be able to return them to you. Digital photos must be 3.1 pixels or above. She really needs sports pictures.

Market Day - See the information above about June and July profits. We had the best summer sales in years. Pick-up for September sales is Wednesday. This year Market Day student volunteers can count their hours toward Eight Grade confirmation service hours, provided they work a full shift. As an incentive, volunteers’ names will be entered in a raffle for a $5 gift card. We are still looking for Market Day adult volunteers as well as a chairperson(s).

The Boo Bag sale will take place in October. This year the bags will not be distributed at the normal Market Day pickup, but the Friday after.

First Grade Welcome - Julie Brown reported that everything went well. The t-shirts were a success.

Fall fundraiser - Pam reported that we will make $12,000 - $13, 000 profit, which equates to approximately $130 per student. Eighty-five percent of the students participated. Thanks to all volunteers and everyone who participated in the fall fundraiser.

Spaghetti dinner - Julie Curry needs someone on the day of the dinner to supervise decorating, clean-up and volunteers.

Skating parties - Janet Gates will chair. The first party is October 11 at Skatetown USA from 6:00 -

8:00 p.m. The second one is on March 29.

Publishing Center - Terry Donovan and Pam Kennedy will be the Publishing Center advisors. We still need 2 chairpersons. The goal is that each student creates a book of their own each year. The cover will be designed in art class; the book content will be worked on during regular class time. Volunteers are still needed to supervise students when they are putting the book together. Sue Kettler will coordinate volunteers for the publishing center.

OLD BUSINESS

Spotlight - Sheri Fortner reported that the spotlight was purchased and is located in the Activity Center.

Fish Fryer - Tom Stautberg is trying to get Gold Medal Products to donate a fish fryer.

NEW BUSINESS

No new business was discussed.
