OPENING PRAYER - The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by Jamie Brenner, PTO President.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES - The April minutes were approved with no changes or corrections.

TREASURER REPORT - Pam reported we had $1,150 income from the Fish Frys and $929 income from the March and April Market Days. Expenses amounted to $9,280 (Teacher start up money, OLSH School gift, tuition aid, Sadie Patterson award and OLSH festival).

Pam drafted a preliminary 2006-2007 budget. If we keep the same budget allocations as last year, we will have a deficit of $2,600.

ORGANIZATIONAL REPORTS

Parish Council update - The parish budget was approved with a $12,000 deficit. Even with our 2006-2007 school tuition increase, OLSH is still competitive with the other Catholic elementary schools.

Market Day - Lisa advised everyone that May is Customer Appreciation month. They will have a lollipop pull when you pick up your products - if you pull the lollipop with a dot on the bottom of it, you win a prize.

Effective May 1, the “extra” products offered on Market Day pick-up day will be the responsibility of the school; the cost of any unsold product will come from the Market Day profits. So that our profits are not impacted, these “extra” products will no longer be available on the Market Day pick-up day.

We are still looking for a Market Day chairperson.

OLD BUSINESS

Spotlight - Sheri Fortner has requested that PTO allocate $500 for the purchase of a used spotlight that can be used for the Variety Show, school performances, graduation, etc.

Fish Fry - Mary Beth Armstrong requested that PTO allocate $500 for the purchase of a used fish fryer for next year. The fish fryer that was available for $300 was not in good condition. She is still in contact with the Festival Committee/Mens Club to determine their interest in assisting in the purchase of the fish fryer(s).

Yearbook - Pam Kennedy reported that 151 yearbooks were sold this year. The yearbook committee may need $100 from PTO for the yearbook expenses.

NEW BUSINESS

First Grade t-shirts - Julie Brown has requested that PTO allocate $150 for the purchase of “OLSH Tigers- Class of 2014" t-shirts for t he incoming first graders. These shirts could be worn on Spirit Day Tuesdays. The shirts would be distributed at the first grade picnic in August.

PTO Meeting Night Change - Tamara Anderson, incoming PTO President, has requested a change in the PTO meeting night. The membership voted for the third Monday evening of the month. We will continue with monthly meetings.

Financial/Budget Proposal - Pam Kennedy presented Mrs. Adelmann with the OLSH school gift and teacher start-up checks. The membership approved the allocation of PTO funds for the spotlight, fish fryer and first grade t-shirts. The remaining PTO funds will be allocated for buses next year.
