The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m. by Jamie Brenner, PTO President.
Approval of minutes - The November meeting minutes were approved as written. There wasn’t a PTO meeting in December.
Treasurer Report - Pam reported that a profit of $920 was made on the Spaghetti dinner (we budgeted for a $500 profit). Market Day has a profit of $2,481 to date against a yearly budgeted amount of $5000. We made a $43 profit at the first skating party and the Christmas Shop made a profit of $1,182. Expenses paid since the last meeting were $2,097.
ORGANIZATIONAL REPORTS
Market Day - Lisa Schoenberger reported that Market Day orders are due on Friday, January 13.
Parish Council update - no meeting scheduled yet for January.
Publishing Center - Pam Kennedy reported that Terry Donovan is still coordinating the Publishing Center projects. The goal is for each class to make a book each year. This requires a lot of volunteers so that the workload is not increased for the teachers. Please consider volunteering for this committee. Pam showed us samples of the Publishing Center projects completed by students at Nativity School.
OLD BUSINESS
Christmas Shop - The Christmas Shop made a profit of $1,182. The shop was only one day this year due to the “impending snow day”. Thanks to this year’s committee, and to April Vogt who will chair this committee next year.
PTO Website - The OLSH school website now includes the following PTO information: meeting minutes, Bylaws, committee chairpersons and information on the magazine drive (how to order magazines throughout the year and have your child get credit for the sale).
NEW BUSINESS
PTO Board Election Committee - Mary Beth Armstrong will chair this committee. At the next PTO meeting, nominations will be accepted for the PTO Board positions. The list of nominees will be presented at the March PTO meeting, and the election for the board members will be held at the April meeting.
Teachers’ Wish List - Pam Kennedy met with the teachers to discuss what they needed for their classrooms and/or their students. The list included, but was not limited to, DVD players, white boards, more money for buses, and guest speakers/performances. It was suggested that PTO spend $3000 on the “Teachers’ Wish List”. It was approved by the membership.
Announcements - Joe Dierkers was quoted in the January issue of Family Fun. The article was about paying for private schools.
Vicki Koppenhafer was contacted by P&G about doing another survey. Additional information will follow at a later date if P&G comes to OLSH to conduct another survey.
Next meeting - The next meeting will be held February 8, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. in the Lower Level of the Parish Center. Please join us as we will be discussing nominations for new board officers and upcoming activities such as the Fish Fry.
Any questions about PTO should be directed to one of the Board Members listed above.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:51 p.m.
