TREASURER’S REPORT - Jeanne reported that the total profit from the fall fundraiser was $12,687 (goal was $13,000). We made $144 profit on the skating party. See the Market Day section for Market Day profit figures. Expenses were $98 for the conference dinner (budget $150).
ORGANIZATIONAL REPORTS
Christmas Shop - April Vogt is the chairperson. She is looking for someone to chair the raffle portion of the Christmas Shop. If you are interested, contact April. Jeanne Fisher has some donations for the raffle.
Market Day - Per Lisa’s report, we made a profit of $30.45 on Boo Bags. We sold 310 pies for November’s pie month and earned $2.75 per pie. Since our goal of 249 pies was reached, all the students can be out of uniform on Monday, November 19. The profit from the pies along with the other food items was approximately $1,208.
We collected $315 for the Pennies for Pies fundraiser. We purchased 35 pies for the Student Government Thanksgiving food baskets. This was the most successful Pennies for Pies campaign to date. Along with the donated pies from the pie contest, we have a total of 65 donated pies. Each basket will contain 2 pies. Thank you to all who donated to this worthy cause.
For the December sale, if you order over $25, your name will be entered into a drawing for a $25 Market Day gift certificate, redeemable at any OLSH Market Day sale from December-June. Order forms will be coming home this week with your youngest.
OLD BUSINESS
Skating Party - Janet Gates reported that we had a very successful skating party. The next Skating Party is Thursday, March 13 at Skatetown USA.
Entertainment Books - Laura Schaeper reported that we sold 115 books for a profit of $464. The profit will be used for the library program.
Conference Dinner-
Susie Finan reported that everything went well. The teachers enjoyed their dinner of soup, salad and dessert.
Scholastic Book Fair - Tamara reported that the book fair made a profit of $900, which will be used for the library program. The 3-day week for the book fair may have impacted sales. Thanks to the volunteers and those who supported the book fair.
Pancake Breakfast - We have plenty of volunteers to staff this event on Sunday, January 27, but we need a chairperson to coordinate everything. If you would like to be the chairperson, contact Katie Leary.
Bylaws Review Committee - Karen Stevenson reported that the first committee meeting is November 15.
Progressive Dinner - Susie Finan reported that she has 5 host/hostesses for the Italian-themed dinner, 5 for appetizers and 2 who will do either. The date is April 5. If you are interested in hosting, please contact Susie. Additional information will be sent home with the students when it becomes available. The event is open to all members of the parish.
NEW BUSINESS
T-shirts for Eighth Graders - Per a note from Scott Schneider, the t-shirts are at the screenprinters.
We also discussed t-shirts for the kindergartners and first graders. Last year, incoming first graders were given a t-shirt as part of their orientation. This year, the orientation didn’t take place. It was mentioned that the kindergarten parents have already purchased t-shirts as part of an initiative by Mrs. Cromer. This year PTO will purchase t-shirts for the first graders. This issue will be discussed next month as we plan for 2008.
Staff Gifts - The committee (Cathy Garbacik, Sherry Fortner and Kim Pomeroy) need volunteer bakers. Please call one of the committee members if you can help them or need more information.
Public Relations Committee Update - Yvonne France distributed the PTO Public Relations Committee Fact Sheet and discussed their initiatives to date. She provided us with their future ideas and functions, including a suggested name change to “OLSH SCHOOL NEWS BUREAU”, and their potential funding needs. Ann Falci surveyed the audience for OLSH “hot buttons” that can be included in upcoming ads. “Hot Buttons” are things that differentiate OLSH from other Catholic grade schools in the area. Please send any ideas to Ann or Yvonne. They are also looking for additional volunteers for their team.
Grandparents/Special Person Day - Jennifer Gallo reported that they are waiting for attendance responses. The committee is considering adding fruit to the menu this year. Student Government will greet attendees. They are always looking for more volunteers to help them with this event.
Playground Mulch - PTO has been asked to help pay for the playground mulch that was delivered recently. Since we did not have all the information we needed, this discussion will resume at the December meeting.
BUSINESS PROCESS IMPROVEMENT
PTO Goal Setting - This discussion will resume at the December meeting.
