OPENING PRAYER - The meeting was called to order by Katie Leary, PTO Vice President.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES - The December minutes were approved as written.

Note: After the meeting, the following was brought to my attention: At the December meeting, the PTO membership voted on and approved an expense of $300 ($350 if needed) for Ms. Willet’s retirement party refreshments. Also, we had budgeted to purchase 3 Monte Carlo tickets, so it was not necessary to vote on the purchase of 1 ticket as outlined in the minutes.

TREASURER’S REPORT - Since the last meeting, we have had $1,297 in income (additional fall fundraiser income, Market Day and $700 estimated income from the Christmas Shop) and $275 in expenses (COSI deposit and Monte Carlo tickets).

ORGANIZATIONAL REPORTS

Christmas Shop - April Vogt was unable to attend the meeting. It was reported that we made approximately $700 of income.

Visit with Santa - Alison O’Neill reported that everything went well.

Eighth grade T-shirts- Rose Carota was unable to attend the meeting, but it was reported that the t-shirts were handed out when Santa made his visit.

Ms. Willet’s Retirement party - Anne Shadley is coordinating this event. Pam Kennedy is collecting donations toward a retirement gift.

Market Day - Lisa was unable to attend. We are still looking for a chairperson for Market Day.

Run , Jump N Play- We need someone to organize this event on February 19. Time is from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, and the cost is $7.00 per participant (under age 2 is free).

Product Surveys- We need volunteers to participate in the P&G survey on February 9. Contact Katie Leary if you can participate.

COSI on Wheels - The What’s Wild program will come to OLSH on May 2. Volunteers will train in the morning, and then staff the educational stations that the students will visit. Alison O’Neill will be looking for volunteers.

It was noted that the Wings of Wonder program will come to OLSH on March 8. An anonymous donor provided OLSH with the funds for this program.

OLD BUSINESS

Sound system in Activity Center - No update to report.

NEW BUSINESS

Updating the Tiger Room - YAC painted and laid new carpet in the Tiger Room. The PTO membership agreed to provide YAC with $200 for this update.

Catholic Schools Week - Angela Guye and her committee are putting together some great activities. A list of all activities will be sent home with the students.

The PTO membership approved an additional $165 in funds for Catholic Schools Week/Open House (original allocation was $100).

Teachers Luncheon - Gina Vonderhaar is coordinating this luncheon.

Fish Fry - Mary Beth Armstrong advised everybody of the Fish Fry dates - March 16, 23 and 30. The costs for the dinners and fish sandwich are rising due to our increased cost for the food.

The fish fry committee will probably rent fish fryers this year. She requested that we hold the $500 PTO has budgeted for fish fryers. We may need this money for an electrician to rewire the outside outlet so we can use the fryers outside. We will have specials each week; we will serve the specials until quantities run out.

Nominating Committee for PTO officers - Need someone to chair the elections of PTO board members.

NOTE: After the meeting, Alison O’Neill agreed to chair the elections. Anyone interested in a PTO board position should notify Alison.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

We received numerous Thank You cards from OLSH teachers and staff for their Christmas gifts. Thanks to the committee who purchased and assembled the staff Christmas baskets.

The next PTO meeting will be held February 26 at 7:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Parish Center.

Any questions, comments or suggestions about PTO should be directed to one of the Board Members listed on the front of this page.
