OPENING PRAYER - Katie opened the meeting with a prayer at 7:03 p.m.
BINGO PRESENTATION - Joe Buschelmann and Larry Meyer attended the meeting to discuss the possibility of starting a Bingo at OLSH. Proceeds would help the school by keeping tuition rates steady. This is still in the discussion stage.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES - The February minutes (with the hand-written note about the Town Hall meeting) were approved as written.
TREASURER’S REPORT - Jeanne reported income of $1,508.73 during the past month ($865.43 Pancake Breakfast; $577.98 from Market Day in January and February; and $65.32 from a library magazine refund). Expenses during the past month were $882.41 ($276.21 for Inauguration Day lunch; $119.97 for Catholic Schools Week cake/candy; $38.60 for 2009 Christmas Shop items; $328.36 library expenses; $75.00 Mardi Carlo tickets; and $44.27 for eighth grade retreat refreshments.
ORGANIZATIONAL REPORTS
Market Day - See budget figures from above. We are making about $250 a month, which is on target for meeting our annual goal of $3,000. Alison O’Neill suggested that people purchase a dessert item from Market Day and donate it to the Fish Fry. A note will be placed in the Friday bulletin.
OLD BUSINESS
Fish Fry - Mary Beth Armstrong reported that everything is on target for the Fish Frys. She received the volunteer sheets and will be developing the volunteer schedule. Remember to send in desserts if possible.
Progressive Dinner - Gina Vonderhaar reported that we need 3 more dinner host/hostesses and volunteers for clean up, set up and dessert. Call Susie Finan if you can help the committee. Date is Saturday, May 2, with appetizers starting at 6:15 p.m. American cuisine will be served for dinner.
PTO Officer Recruitment - These people were officially nominated by the PTO membership to be the candidates for the PTO officer positions: Liza Durbin - President; Christy Speed - Secretary; Jeanne Fisher - Treasurer. We still need candidates for the Vice President office. Please contact any of the current PTO officers (Katie Leary, Karen Stevenson or Jeanne Fisher if you are interested in any of the positions, particularly the Vice Presidency. Election for new PTO officers is scheduled to take place at the April meeting.
COSI on Wheels - Alison O’Neill reported that she still needs volunteers to staff this event. She needs a total of 15 volunteers; currently she only has 6. Remember to fill out your COSI volunteer form (sent home in the Friday packets) and return it to Alison. She doesn’t need any more volunteers for the set-up shift.
We submitted our choice for the program next year.
NEW BUSINESS
Skating Party - Pam Kennedy reminded everyone of the skating party this Thursday, March 12.
Variety Show - Per a note from Tamara Anderson, 27 acts auditioned. The show will be March 22 from
6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The committee is set for decorations, refreshments and stage/set crew.
Mother’s Day - At this point, we do not have a chairperson. Katie will call Mary Gordon to see if she is interested in chairing this year.
Fundraising Committee Recruitment - Katie is looking for a group of people to look at the magazine drive and direct donations. She requested they evaluate the prizes and the levels at which they are offered. Per Pam Kennedy, Fr. Jack said NO to direct donations in November, 2005. We will check with Fr. Ron.
April and May PTO Meeting Dates - The current date for the April PTO meeting is during spring break. This meeting will be moved to Tuesday, April 21. The May meeting will be held May 12 - same night as Fine Arts night.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Alison O’Neill advised everyone of the bible study for 6/7/8 graders that she and Mr. Collins will be coordinating. Look for additional information in the Friday packets.
Katie reminded everyone about the speaker on St. Paul coming to OLSH on Thursday.
Young Families is sponsoring an Easter Egg hunt on Palm Sunday after the 10:30 mass. Everyone welcome.
The next PTO meeting is Tuesday, April 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Parish Center. Child care will be provided. Please join us!
