OPENING PRAYER  - Katie opened the meeting with a prayer at 7:05 p.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES  - The January minutes were approved as written.

TREASURER’S REPORT - Jeanne reported income of $242.87 from Market Day and $250.00 from The Next Best Thing fundraiser.  February expenses were an additional $701.41 for staff gifts, $112.79 for the Publishing Center and $32.56 for school supplies.

ORGANIZATIONAL REPORTS

Market Day - Angie Chachoff reported the Market Day income as outlined above.  She mentioned that we need additional families to order from Market Day; the same families are ordering each month.  If you aren’t already ordering Market Day products, please consider placing an order and giving them a try.

OLD BUSINESS

PTO Surveys - Katie distributed an overview of the survey results and led a discussion about the results.  Liza Durbin will talk to Quint about grounds maintenance projects.  She will also review and compile the comments from the surveys.  Once that is completed, Katie will request that the interested parties conduct some research on the projects and report their findings to the PTO membership.

Pancake Breakfast - Katie reported that we made $865.00 from the Pancake breakfast.  We served about 100 less people at this breakfast compared to the last one.

Progressive Dinner - Susie Finan reported that the dinner date is Saturday, May 2, with appetizers starting at

6:15 p.m.  The dinner will be American cuisine.  Call Susie if you can help her by being a host/hostess.

Last year 64 people attended; we would like a greater attendance this year.  Cost is $60 a couple, $30 for an individual.  We discussed the Derby Day theme.

PTO Officer Recruitment - We discussed the need for new PTO officers for next school year.  The PTO cannot exist without officers to run it.  Liza Durbin expressed interest in being an officer.  Christy Speed mentioned that she is interested in the Secretary position, but may need help on those nights when she is unable to attend.

We still need additional candidates.  Officers will be nominated at the March meeting, so please contact one of the current officers if you are interested or need additional information.  A brief overview of the positions was sent out with the January minutes.  Elections will be held at the April meeting.

Yearbook Club - Alison O’Neill reported that we need a volunteer to assume the responsibility for the Yearbook Club next year.  The club is currently comprised of 7 eighth graders that meet 2 times a month after school.  Call Alison for more information or if you would like to volunteer.

COSI on Wheels - Alison O’Neill reported that our next program is on April 29 - Agricultural Adventures.  We submitted our 2 choices for the program next year - either Nutrition or Weather (based on feedback from the teachers).

Public Relations - Ann Falci reported on the recent public relation efforts.  She needs more volunteers to help her and her committee.  Remember to send any articles/picture about OLSH students and alumni to school.  If you need to keep the article/picture, please notify school of the following: newspaper name, date of newspaper, and the topic of the article/picture.  Ann needs this information to track coverage by the newspapers.

We are including information about OLSH happenings in the church bulletins at Sts. Peter & Paul and St. Saviour.

Eighth Grade Graduation Video - Alison mentioned that we need to add this project to the PTO committee list next year.  Someone needs to coordinate the video of the eighth grade students that is shown at graduation.  Copies are also available for purchase by the parents.

NEW BUSINESS

Fish Fry - Karen Stevenson reported that Fish Frys will be held on March 20 and 27 and April 3.  Those who volunteered to help during the initial sign-up will be sent a reminder about their commitment.  A general request for volunteers will be sent out in early March.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The next PTO meeting is Tuesday, March 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Parish Center.  Child care will be provided.  Please join us!

Please consider volunteering for one of the open positions on the PTO Board, or for the Yearbook Club.  We welcome new ideas and insights.  PTO, as well as the Yearbook Club, cannot continue unless the open positions are filled.   Or, consider helping Ann Falci and her PR committee.  Any help is appreciated.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.

Any questions, comments or suggestions about PTO should be directed to one of the Board members listed on the front of this page, or sent to the OLSH PTO email address also listed on the front of this page.
