Students at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School in Reading, Ohio in Mrs. Mary Osborne's Language Arts class recently finished the book Hacthet. Among their projects students discussed survival skills. One of the fathers and his son demostrated wilderness survival skills to the class. The student built a wilderness fire and showed various ways to start fires without the aid of matches. Even though a windy day, he was able to start and sustain a small fire. The class was showed how to set up a snare with a small sapling to catch small animals. All the students were excited about the demostration but all agreed that they prefer not to relie on those survival skills.
