The words, 'Go to the principal,' often fill school children with dread because this usually means that someone is in trouble. This is not true for the first graders at Our Lady of the Sacrd Heart School in Reading. As the young readers improve in expression and fluency, the are invited to 'Go to the principal...and read! The children receive a certificate and a bright new pencil as proof of this achievement. The first graders wait for this opportunity with excitement not dread.
