Playing cards or board games helps students learn to have patience, take turns, and be a good loser as well as a gracious winner. These photos show Mrs. O'Brien's first graders at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School in Reading, practicing these skills. Each child brought to school a game they knew well enough to teach to another person. Everyone enjoyed the day and also learned some valuable lessons: explaining or teaching something to another isn't so easy, monitoring each persons's fairness is tricky, and, keeping score is time consuming.
